Paul Haggis wrote Million Dollar Baby and wrote and directed Crash, which won Best Picture in consecutive years, making him the only person to write two consecutive Best Picture winners.

He also co-wrote Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, and his contribution to Casino Royale’s structure is substantial.

Crash’s standing has declined considerably since, and Haggis was later found liable in a civil sexual assault case, which has changed how the work is discussed. He was also publicly prominent in leaving Scientology.
