Ten Speed Press is an American independent publisher of cookbooks, career and business books, gardening, lifestyle, pop reference, and gift books, founded in 1971 in Berkeley, California, by Phil Wood. The press built its reputation on quirky, design-led trade paperbacks including Richard Bolles's What Color Is Your Parachute (the bestselling career book in publishing history), the Moosewood Cookbook, and the Sunset garden guides. Ten Speed was acquired by Crown Publishing Group at Penguin Random House in 2009 and continues to publish under the Ten Speed Press name as a Crown imprint.
