Bloomsbury Publishing is a major independent British publishing house, founded in London in 1986 by Nigel Newton, and best known internationally for being the original publisher of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. Bloomsbury Publishing USA is its American operation, headquartered in New York City. Beyond Harry Potter, Bloomsbury publishes a large list of literary fiction, academic and scholarly works through its Bloomsbury Academic imprint, children's books, and serious nonfiction.
