Write Great Fiction

Write Great Fiction is the premier writing-craft instructional series from Writer's Digest Books, a five-volume working curriculum on the core elements of fiction writing for emerging and intermediate novelists. The series covers structure, characterization, dialogue, description, and revision in dedicated volumes by working novelists and teachers.

Titles in the series are Plot and Structure by James Scott Bell, Description and Setting by Ron Rozelle, Dialogue by Gloria Kempton, Characters Emotion and Viewpoint by Nancy Kress (which won the 2006 Spectrum Award for craft writing), and Revision and Self-Editing by James Scott Bell. Each volume pairs exposition of craft principles with extensive examples drawn from published fiction and exercises designed for working application.
