Becca Puglisi is the co-author, with Angela Ackerman, of the bestselling Writers Helping Writers thesaurus series, including The Emotion Thesaurus and its many sequels. She is based in Jupiter, Florida, and works as an international speaker, writing coach, and craft instructor for fiction writers.
Before turning to writing full time, Puglisi was an elementary school teacher, a background that shaped her interest in clear instruction and helped sharpen the lookup-while-you-write structure of the thesaurus series. She and Ackerman met in an online critique group focused on kid lit and young adult fiction, started a blog together called The Bookshelf Muse to build a platform, and the brainstorming lists they posted there became the foundation of The Emotion Thesaurus, first published in 2012.
The Writers Helping Writers series now spans eleven volumes and has sold more than 1.3 million copies, with over 14,000 five-star reviews across the line on Amazon. The books are available in nine languages and are used by novelists, screenwriters, editors, and psychologists. With Ackerman she co-founded the Writers Helping Writers website and One Stop For Writers, a subscription platform that contains the entire thesaurus collection as a cross-referenced searchable database alongside character-building and worldbuilding tools.
Puglisi also writes young adult fantasy and historical fiction. Her foreign rights are represented by Marleen Seegers of 2 Seas Agency. She speaks regularly at writing conferences including SCBWI, RWA, and WFWA, and lives with her family in south Florida.
