Actor: Ulrich Mühe

Ulrich Mühe played the Stasi officer in The Lives of Others, and the performance is built almost entirely on a face that reveals nothing while everything changes behind it. He had lived under Stasi surveillance himself in East Germany, and files suggested his own wife had informed on him. He died months after the film’s Oscar win.
