Susan Tyrrell was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for Fat City, playing an alcoholic in a John Huston boxing film, and spent the rest of her career in deliberately strange material including Cry-Baby and Forbidden Zone. A rare blood condition led to the amputation of both legs in 2000 and she continued performing.
