All That Jazz (1979)
Bob Fosse's 1979 autobiographical musical about his own self-destruction. Roy Scheider as the Fosse stand-in.
Roy Scheider was nominated for The French Connection and All That Jazz, the second playing a version of Bob Fosse working himself to death.
Jaws gives him Brody, and the line about needing a bigger boat was improvised and repeated across the shoot as a joke about the production’s own problems before it entered the film. He was an amateur boxer with a broken nose to prove it.
