Albert Finney was nominated five times and never won, declining to attend when nominated. Tom Jones made him a star, and Erin Brockovich and Big Fish gave him strong late work. He turned down the role of Lawrence of Arabia after a screen test, which he said would have committed him to a studio contract he did not want.
